Optimal user experience with centralized online shop

As the central online shop for all affiliated retailers of the European furniture association (EMV), Homepoet was faced with a challenge. The retail network of around 460 dealers and 1076 points of sale in Germany, Austria and other European countries gave us the task of optimizing their digital strategy. This network includes regional furniture stores and kitchen studios as well as large furniture store chains that rely on EMV as their buying group.

The challenge

For Wöhner, we want to build an e-commerce platform that offers a classic online store that can later be developed into an omnichannel digital hub. In the long term, this holistic digital strategy is intended to engage shop users at multiple touchpoints.

The current goal is to integrate different technologies so that they work together efficiently and provide a smooth shopping experience for the end customer. The goal is to improve the customer experience and increase conversion rates.

The strategy

To develop this omnichannel digital hub, we chose 3 core technologies:

  • Spryker

  • Storyblok

  • Algolia

Our main task was to connect and harmonize the different technologies. The goal was to integrate these different technologies in such a way that they work together efficiently and provide a seamless shopping experience for the end customer.

The Implementation

The goal of the project was to create a seamless customer experience. In addition to harmonizing the technologies in the background, the second focus was on UX optimization and store design. The mobile first approach, state of the art search engine optimization, as well as increasing the visibility of the merchant partners and their consulting services are only part of the optimization. Two concrete examples show how we implement the concept.

More service, more conversions

In order to provide customers with an even more comprehensive service, the classic furniture range has been expanded. The Homepoet store now also offers kitchens and kitchen advice as a service. Instead of a checkout, a lead process with an appointment is used, as kitchens require more consultation than sofas. This hybrid sales model provides additional lead generation opportunities for dealer partners. For them, Homepoet is the central commerce platform for both physical products and services.

The improved user experience leads to optimized customer journeys and more (online) conversions. We also enable more interaction with merchants, strengthening their position on the platform. Customer satisfaction and loyalty increase, leading to repeat purchases on Homepoet.

Algoila - Search & Find

In order to deliver relevant results to our customers even faster, we decided to implement Algolia Instant Search. Not only does it offer outstanding performance (99% of queries answered in less than 30ms), but it also offers user-friendly features such as search with typing error tolerance or automatic synonym generation.

Updates to the PIM's product catalog are automatically propagated to Algolia. Also in the frontend, categories and filters are automatically adapted to new requirements, providing users with the most up-to-date information.

The Result

The effective implementation of this strategy has significantly improved the customer journey. Both online and in the associated furniture stores and kitchen studios, the improved customer experience leads to increased customer satisfaction and sales.

The successful implementation of this project confirms our expertise and shows that combining and orchestrating different technologies can significantly improve the user experience. Take a look at Homepoet's new online store.
