The challenge

With the development of Milan® enabled audio modules, Neutrik offers manufacturers of e.g. loudspeakers, amplifiers or microphones the possibility to enable their products with real-time audio transmission.

In order to provide its customers with an end-to-end experience when implementing their audio OEM modules, Neutrik wants to bundle and make available all information and necessary configurations for the Minea module in a customer portal.

The focus is on the configuration of the module's firmware. This can be configured and downloaded via the customer portal. In addition to the most important product information, the portal also offers documentation for firmware service.

A customer portal as a project solution

To meet all the requirements, we developed a customer portal with extensive functionality. These include

  • Control software for configuration and firmware download

  • A Salesforce interface to control all customer access rights to the customer portal

  • Versioning logic for secure deployment of firmware

  • CMS to manage and publish all product information

User Control

To keep access to the customer portal as simple and centralized as possible, the authorization system of the customer portal application was linked to Salesforce CRM and the approval processes were implemented. The two-step onboarding process for customer portal users is controlled and managed through Salesforce.

Customer service representatives can quickly and easily assign the necessary permissions.

Firmware Configuration

The extensive firmware configuration form allows customers to take advantage of all the customization possibilities of Minea products. In order to avoid errors and guarantee further development, the form has been implemented as an object and extensive automated tests have been implemented.

Firmware Versioning

The versioning overview allows customers to access all firmware versions at any time. The versioning logic eliminates errors and mishaps in version selection.

A release workflow is implemented to provide the right firmware at the right time. This guarantees the availability of the firmware in an exact configuration. All other design versions are shipped with the current base firmware version. This guarantees that the required firmware is available for the operation of the developed audio device.

Product Documentation

Detailed product and firmware configuration documentation allows customers to have all information at their fingertips.

The customer portal is based on the php framework Laravel. The CMS toolkit "Twill" was used to develop the CMS components for the firmware documentation. Laravel is our choice for the implementation of individual software applications. The php framework allows us to customize scalability, test suites, logic and code quality according to our client's project framework. The entire application was built using a headless architecture. In the course of frontend development we rely on the Javascript framework vue.js.
