Relaunch with Storyblok in a multi-site setup for a global corporation
The initial challenge was to develop a new setup for the corporate websites of K.D. Feddersen Holding GmbH. The aim was to provide the companies of the Feddersen Group with a suitable framework that would meet their diverse technical and content requirements. The result was two websites, one for the entire group and one for K.D. Feddersen Ueberseegeellschaft mbH. All of this in a performance-driven and technology-focused environment. Our approach to this challenge was an extended Storyblok setup with multi-site management.

Development of Concept and Design
The analysis phase began with a competitive and benchmark analysis. Together with K.D. Feddersen Holding GmbH, personas and target groups were defined for the individual company pages. These are essential for the further development of the concept and form the basis for the concept and design process together with the client. The digital strategy of the Feddersen Group and the new branding were also decisive for the concept and design development.
Design system for all digital touch points
Together with the client, the functionalities of the websites were developed in workshops. The concept was then translated into a design based on the new branding and refined. The website design is the starting point for the development of the digital design system that can be used for all other digital touchpoints.

The Solution? Storyblok!
One of the challenges of the website redesign was that, in addition to the replacement of the existing website, other pages of the group would also have to be integrated into the new website system in the future. All this within a unified visual framework with optimized user navigation and reduced click paths. Thanks to the technical setup with Storyblok as a headless CMS and the preceding feasibility study, this requirement was implemented very well for the customer.
Storyblok Visual Editor
Thanks to Storyblok's excellent Visual Editor in the backend, the complete content maintenance for K.D. Feddersen Holding GmbH was possible in less than 4 weeks for the German and English languages, parallel to the development. The visual editor allows a live preview of the maintenance in the design of the website, as well as easy copying of individual content blocks or entire pages.
API-first Headless CMS
Storyblok meets another requirement thanks to its API-first approach. This means that the backend and the frontend exchange data via API. Content is passed to the frontend via an API and content is displayed. This allows content from the backend to be displayed across pages.
For example, the Feddersen Group website can display all news from the group on all other websites. No separate content maintenance, based on a single point of truth.
Multisite Setup
Each individual company site can use the same template, components and module set thanks to Storyblok Multisite Setup. The technical setup was only marginally more complex thanks to modern CMS technologies, but can be scaled afterwards. This allows the Feddersen Group to use the same technical infrastructure for all of its corporate sites. The code base of the components is universal, but branding and style adjustments can be made for each individual company site. In the long run, this significantly reduces the maintenance effort.
The Storyblok backend allows very flexible and granular assignment of individual permissions for each user group. Users from a specific company can also only edit that content or upload assets to the appropriate media folders.
Technology used
The modern development approach with Storyblok as backend and Vue3 in combination with NuxtJs as well as TailwindCSS enabled a quick realization of the new websites for the Feddersen Group as well as the K.D. Feddersen Ueberseegesellschaft GmbH. From the start of the feasibility study and the technical concept to the launch of the first project phase, only 3 months passed. The implementation was completed in time for the announcement of the new branding.
Focus on Lead Generation
A key component of the implementation was the contact lead generation modules. In the future, these will be linked directly to the customer's CRM system via API, so that the sales teams of the individual Feddersen Group companies can qualify and channel customer enquiries directly. The design framework and UX concept have already been developed.

M.TEC ENGINEERING GmbH, an engineering service provider for product and process development, has been part of the Feddersen Group since 2018. The focus of FEDDEM GmbH & Co. KG focuses on mechanical engineering and the manufacture of twin-screw extruders, compounding lines and turnkey systems. The group is completed by Voß Edelstahlhandel GmbH & Co. KG, which specializes in the supply of stainless steel, aluminum and non-ferrous metals.
