In the course of two workshops, we had the task of training Rhomberg Bau employees at the Bregenz and Vienna locations in working with Power BI and demonstrating possible areas of application.
With such an extensive topic, it can often happen that the workshop turns into a lecture or that the knowledge transfer fails.

The challenge
The goal of the workshop was to teach the basics of Power BI and how to use it. This inevitably meant that at least the first part of the workshop would be very theory heavy. The challenge was not only to provide the necessary knowledge about the basics and background of Power BI, but also to internalize this knowledge and motivate the participants with previous experience.
The Workshop Concept
A combination of theoretical blocks paired with practical demonstrations and sessions was chosen as the workshop concept. This made it easier to consolidate the knowledge imparted and to involve the participants as directly as possible in the workshop. Building on this foundation, complex examples were used to deepen the knowledge and work with the participants' own data sets to identify possible areas of application in the company.
📆 The schedule
The first day of the workshop focused on theoretical knowledge. For this purpose, individual topic blocks were created, each of which was supplemented by demonstrations and practical exercises in order to enable a practical examination of what had been learned. With the help of concrete examples, it was already possible to point out possible areas of application for Rhomberg Bau.
On the second day, the focus was on working with and deepening the knowledge of Power BI. Through exercises tailored to Rhomberg Bau and of increasing complexity, all participants were challenged and were able to apply the knowledge gained on the previous day. By working with Rhomberg Bau's own data, it was also possible to explore the possibilities of Power BI for topics from their own area of work.
📈 Results and lessons learned
The feedback on the workshop was very positive in all areas. Especially the work with own data and the development of concrete questions relevant for Rhomberg Bau gave impulses for the own work. As a result, the first use cases were implemented during the workshop and the potential of Power BI was utilized.
